Default Suggestion for High Rendered characters in towns

Most people notice that only your character looks nice and highly rendered in towns.

Most people also notice that everyone else looks kinda crappy.
I think there should be an option in the options that render all characters in towns as much as your own. Complete with the shiny sheen and detail.

Of course, this would be kinda video intensive, which is why it's only a suggestion. I would just like to see everyone's armor for what it's supposed to be.

Yeah when I'm shopping for armour I normally ask if anyone around has the type I'm thinking of buying. It would be nice to turn on full-res in towns to see the armour better. My comp wouldn't be able to do it all the time but I think this could work nicely as a tick box thing.

It should allow players to toggle it on/off, or, even better, a slider (or dropdown menu with low/medium/high/maximum) to specify HOW well rendered. Even characters in towns with medium rendering would look better. Right now they look low or even LOWER than "low".

Would help out videos and screenshots too. What if you want to do a massive group picture/recording where the party size cap will limit you?

Already suggested.

But I agree, let the high end card owners use them by adding some 'Highest' option to the textures dropdown list.

Try looking at the low res of monk tats dyed yellow (or was it orange). It looks like they have some nasty disease. The only reason I haven't seen it in a while is that the only people I see wearing tats are the bots, and they don't dye their armor.

What a nice graphics option idea!

But besides video card power, could it mess with bandwidth? That would be bad...

/signed. A prime example would be 15k Luxon for Warriors. I really like the armor but it likes somebody threw up on the player when in a town.

Rather than a slider for quality though, it should be a slider for distance. Everything close looks high, then say 20ft away medium, and everyone farther than that low. That way not everyone is rendered in high, so more people can use the option and check out everyones armor on high.

Currently I assume that whenever a player loads into town your client is told what armor skins he is wearing with what dye combos. When he changes armor, you get data saying what armor skin and dye he changed to. All this suggestion would do is tell your client to render the armor using the high res textures instead of the low res ones you use in town now.

So the only change in bandwidth usage is when you download the update, and thats probably only a code change. Once you have the patch there will be no difference in bandwidth usage.

THis would most likely lag the hell out of most people playing, but it'd be great for us high end users.

Anything that doesnt have to do with interacting with the game world doesnt use bandwidth, so increasing graphics quality wont effect it.

It wouldn't lag people out if they can control how far they get themselves into it. Just because someone else is running higher visuals doesn't mean other people are affected by it.
